the kids want to know, don’t they?
Webster (that little guy) defines Junk
Science as "A science that is somewhat scientifical
but not as ill-scientifical as something that’s REALLY
scientific, nahmean?"
Webster (the actual dictionary) defines Junk
Science as "Baje One on the
mic and DJ Snafu behind the MPC." The
funky junky sound that characterizes their music starts with
Snafu’s seamlessly collaged beats and continues with
Baje One’s focused rambling over said
beats. That’s Junk Science; a perfect
drumbeat covered in a thin layer of static and dust; a slick,
concentrated verse punctuated by a high-pitched laugh that
undoes all the tension in the speakers; a working telephone
made entirely from macaronis.
"As important, big-time scientists we must not only leave
room for error, we must MAKE room for error," says Baje
One with a funny accent. Snafu is
nodding his head. I think he agrees. Both Junkmen
hope that their new album will build on the triple-wood
success of their first LP. There’s a distinct scientific
possibility that they might do precisely that.
